“Some of us fight racism by raising our black children to know joy”- @ashleysimpo.
Since 1865, June 19th has been observed as a celebration of freedom for Black Americans. Remembering that we are still in times where our freedom is attempted to be taken from us… I’m here as a reminder that there is sovereignty in the black family unit. Our freedom is present in repairing the black family structure.
The love of my melanin sistas, the peace of my melanin brothas, the joy of our melanin children = BLACK POWER.
This Juneteenth landed on Fathers Day. Major Shout out especially to these brothas. This is an uprising, to see you for who you are. There is a system working so hard for our brothas to be missing from our households as protectors and providers. Continue to be strength, power, love, and joy. You are worthy.
Love y’all
